Nachdem ihm vor zwei Jahren sein Debüt Album Love die Türen zu Touren, Festivals und Radio-Stationen auf der ganzen Welt eröffnete, meldet sich Taylor Knox nun mit einer neuen Single zurück. Live It Up klingt so energetisch und authentisch, wie ich es lange nicht mehr gehört habe.
Ich möchte nicht sagen, dass Indie-Rock von heute eher weichgespült und androgyn ist, es ist nur so, dass der richtige „Rock“-Anteil, wie man ihn so von früher kannte, nicht mehr so oft zu finden ist. Schrammelige Gitarren, fetzige Drums – ja sogar ein Solo, das alles sind Dinge, die ich bei Live It Up finde und das macht den Song meiner Meinung nach zu einer großartigen Entdeckung. Bands wie HYMMJ und FELIN haben mich zuletzt überzeugt und so würde ich auch Taylor Knox in diese Sparte einordnen.
Live It Up strahlt einfach Lebensfreude und Energie aus, bleibt dabei aber auf dem Boden. Ich könnte mir den Song gut als Soundtrack für irgendeine Sneaker-Marke oder ähnliches Lifestyle-Produkt vorstellen. Das soll den Song jetzt nicht entwerten, sondern eher als Kompliment verstanden werden. Eine Emotion, ein Gefühl so gut in einen Song zu verpacken, dass jemand auf der anderen Seite des Erdballs Freude daran hat. 🙂
