CATT ist die Newcomerin der Stunde. Bisher ohne Label unterwegs, sammelte die Multiinstrumentalistin bereits über 80k Streams auf Spotify und ist noch lange nicht am Ende. Curiosity ist ihr neuester Song – und eine wahre Wucht an Emotionen.
Die studierte Musikerin hat bereits letztes Jahr mit Brettern wie Moon, Away und Sea bewiesen, dass sie Talent und Bock hat, der Welt gute Musik zu schenken. So legt sie also diesen Mai mit ihrer vierten Single Curiosity die Messlatte noch mal ein ganzes Stück höher.
Nach den ersten drei Songs bin ich gespannt, wie Curiosity klingt
Curiosity fängt ziemlich träumerisch und sanft an. Nur ein Klavier begleitet CATTs außergewöhnliche Stimme. Hier und da ein kleines, jazziges Fill, ansonsten bleibt viel Zeit, sich auf den Text zu konzentrieren. In Richtung Chorus sammelt der Song dann weitere Instrumente ein und lädt sie in einem kurzen, fast schon teaser-artigen Chorus wieder ab.
Die zweite Strophe hat dann schon etwas mehr Drive und zum anfänglichen Klavier wird noch eine Posaune (die lange Trompete mit Hebel) und subtile Percussion-Elemente hinzugefügt. Genau die richtige Mischung um dem Song Schwung zu geben, den Gesang aber trotzdem im Vordergrund zu lassen.
Der Turnaround wird dann besonders spannend. Zuerst geht CATT in die Kopfstimme, dann kommt ein „Ich-hab-Musikproduktion-studiert“-artiger Breakdown. Pause. Zwei Klaviertasten werden gespielt und es geht endlich in den richtigen Chorus, in voller Stärke. Bis zu diesem Punkt hat der Song schon einen einzigartigen, schwebenden Charakter mit Disney-Profil, doch was dann passiert, ist selbst für mich ziemlich überraschend.
Ein göttliches Saxophon-Solo erklingt. Voller Hingabe und mit Passion gespielt, erhebt sich dazu Whitney Houstons Geist aus dem Grabe und findet endlich Erlösung. Der Song schließt dann mit einem letzten angespielten Chorus und entlässt uns in die gähnende Leere, die Curiosity hinterlässt. Hammer.
CATT vereint auf Curiosity viele großartige Stile zu einem eigenen Sound
CATT hat mit Curiosity einen wunderschönen Song geschrieben, der mich musikalisch sehr an einen Mix aus John Mayer, gemischt mit Alice Phoebe Lou und einer großen Prise Disney-Soundtrack erinnert. 
Wenn man noch ein lockeres 6/8-Rhythmus-Gerüst unter den Song packen würde, hätte man im Prinzip das Instrumental für Gravity von John Mayer.
Alles in allem hat mir der Song richtig gut gefallen. Die Nummer ist komplex genug geschrieben, dass man auch beim dritten Mal hören noch besondere Feinheiten und Nuancen entdeckt, ähnlich wie bei Jazz. Dabei ist sie jedoch so einfach und zugänglich gehalten, dass man den Melodien und der Geschichte sehr einfach folgen kann. Demnach macht es einfach Spaß, Curiosity zu hören und sich der Musik voll hinzugeben.
Für mich stellt CATT neben JEREMIAS, Sultans Court und vielen weiteren tollen Künstlern, die hier auf meinem Blog vorgestellt werden die nächste Generation an großartigen deutschen Künstlern dar.
