Tatsächlich war ich gerade dabei, einen Kuchen zu backen und mir fehlte nur noch diese eine Zutat! Eine Hand wäscht die andere, daher gibt es jetzt die Review zur neuen Single Non Stop Fun (All I Wanted) von The Flavians! 😉
Mit The Flavians kündigt sich ein neues Revival der 60s an. Die vier Musiker haben Ende 2017 über den einen oder anderen holprigen Umweg zueinander gefunden und machen nun ganz tolle Musik zusammen, die fast wie aus den 60s klingt. Wir haben Joakim Jägerhult an den Drums, Liam Blomqvist als Sänger und Gitarrist, Anna Vaverková, ebenfalls als Sängerin und Pianistin und Thomas Wills als Sänger und Bassisten. Wer von den Kerlen jetzt wer ist auf dem Bild, weiß ich nicht, aber Anna ist definitiv eine hübsche. 😉
Die Truppe kommt aus Berlin und veröffentlichen mit Non Stop Fun ihre zweite Single aus ihrem Konzeptalbum Ordinary People in an Ordinary World. Ohne bisher auch nur einen Ton gehört zu haben, geb ich dem Titel jetzt schon die volle Punktzahl. Worum es inhaltlich geht, weiß ich zwar nicht genau, doch ich finde die Aussage bereits sehr sympathisch. Könnte auch auf meiner linken Arschbacke tättowiert sein! Non Stop Fun is all I ever wanted!
Die Single erinnert mich ein bisschen an The Lemon Twigs, Foxygen und einer Prise klassischem Radio-Pop. Ja logisch, Beatles sind auch rauszuhören, aber ich finde es irgendwie einfältig zu schreiben, dass The Flavians nach den Beatles klingen. Ich meine, gefühlt klingt alles was nach den Beatles kam und minimale Einflüsse hat, nach den Beatles, oder nicht?
Non Stop Fun erscheint nach dem ersten Durchgang als eine extrem witzige und erfrischende Nummer. Rein technisch gibt es nichts zu meckern. Die Instrumente sind professionell eingespielt und das Ganze ist sauber produziert. Man kann sich als Hörer beim zweiten Mal hören also vollkommen auf den Inhalt konzentrieren, der jedem von uns glaube ich bekannt vorkommen dürfte. 😉
Die Figur aus dem Song ist mir nicht fremd und hat bestimmt schon mal in der Bahn neben mir gesessen
In dem Song begegnen wir nämlich dem Protagonisten der Geschichte, der im Hamsterrad der Leistungsgesellschaft gefangen ist. Mit resignierter Attitüde berichtet er uns von den täglichen Erniedrigungen, die er ertragen muss. Die Arbeit nervt und ist eintönig, die Arbeitskollegen furchtbar. Auch der Hausfrieden ist gestört, denn die Frau ist am meckern und geht fremd. Doch nicht mal in der Bahn hat man seine Ruhe, denn auch hier versuchen wildfremde Menschen, die innere Ruhe zu stören.
Kurz: Das Leben macht es einem mal wieder extrem schwer, Freude an den einfachen Dingen zu finden. Zum Beispiel sich einfach ins Bett zu legen und zu schlafen. Non Stop Fun ist auf jeden Fall ironisch-genervt gemeint und All I Wanted bezieht sich auf den Teil mit dem ins Bett legen. Da bin ich mir ziemlich sicher. 😉
Meine Lieblingsstelle aus Non Stop Fun ist ganz eindeutig diese:

Ich finde Non Stop Fun als zweite Single-Auskopplung wirklich extrem gelungen! Sowohl der Song an sich, als auch das Musikvideo haben einen ganz eigenen Charakter und erzeugen Emotionen in mir. Die Figur aus dem Song ist mir nicht fremd, sie hat bestimmt schon mal in der Bahn neben mir gesessen. Besonders gut gefällt mir der Detailgrad, mit dem hier zusammenfassend das Leben vieler Menschen beschrieben wird.
Abschließend möchte ich noch sagen, dass The Flavians bei diesem Niveau wahrscheinlich eine großartige Zukunft vor sich haben. Denn eine ganz besondere, feine und künstlerische Aura umgibt diese bunt-zusammengewürfelte Band aus Berlin und lässt einen neugierig werden. Eine solche Single ist mir schon länger nicht untergekommen, daher würde ich jedem empfehlen, The Flavians im Hinterkopf zu behalten.
