Mark Pelli überrascht mit romantischem Neo-Soul

Mark Pelli aus Kanada überrascht uns mit seinem romantischen Neo-Soul Lifetime und zeigt damit, dass es immer noch wahre Gentlemen gibt da draußen. 😉

Nachdem der Multiinstrumentalist in der Vergangenheit bereits mit Künstlern wie J Cole, Chris Brown und Shakira zusammenarbeitete, erscheint jetzt mit Lifetime bereits die zweite eigene Single von Mark Pelli. Bereits letztes Jahr legte er mit You Changed Me einen vielversprechenden Start hin. 

Lifetime klingt irgendwie soulig, retro, rockig und funky und neo-soulig. Eine ziemlich spannende Mischung, die Mark Pelli aber gut unter einen Hut bringt. Mit Sam Cooke als einen seiner größten Einflüsse, ist die soulige Komponente schon leichter nachvollziehbar. Während der Verse eher ruhiger und weniger aufregend klingt, geht es im Chorus schon eher zur Sache.

Die Vocals arbeiten mit vielen Schichten und Backing-Vocals, erzeugen so also Dynamik und Komplexität. Das Ohr gewöhnt sich nicht so schnell an die gesungene Melodie. Das macht den Song spannend. 

Das Highlight von Lifetime beginnt aber ab 2:24. Das Solo ist verdammt bluesig und voller Gefühl. Ein schöner Kontrast zum restlichen Song. An mancher Stelle muss ich sogar an Our First Time von Bruno Mars denken. Ein wirklich rundes Teil und eine tolle zweite Single für einen jungen, begabten Mark Pelli. Hör mal rein:
