Chris Ayer lässt mit Mad Eye noch einmal die letzten melancholischen Momente des Winters aufleben und begrüßt dabei schon die ersten wärmeren, besseren Tage.

Normalerweise klingen die meisten Folk-Songs alle gleich. Melancholische Gitarrenakkorde, begleitet von verletzlich klingenden, fast schon geflüsterten Vocals. Generell ist das nicht verkehrt, nur geht dabei schnell der Spirit der einzelnen Künstler in ihren Songs verloren. Der eine klingt wie der andere und der andere klingt wie der eine.

Bei Chris Ayer ist das aber anders. Der Singer-Songwriter aus Los Angeles hat mit Mad Eye einen Song erschaffen, der sofort aufhorchen lässt. Obwohl das Intro an sich nichts besonderes ist, fängt es meine Aufmerksamkeit. Dann kommt diese warme Stimme mit dazu. Ein bisschen Ed Sheeran oder Bright Eyes. Vielleicht noch eine Prise Mighty Oaks? Oder gar William Fitzsimmons?

Mad Eye entfaltet Stück für Stück seine magische Wirkung. Irgendwann hört man noch ein Banjo und ein Klavier. Das es ein Song über die Liebe ist, muss ich glaube ich nicht erwähnen. Das ganze Stück ist von der Ferne betrachtet eigentlich nichts besonderes, wenn man aber genau hinhört, löst Chris Ayer etwas Fernweh, Melancholie und Hoffnung in einem aus. Toller Song für die letzten Wintertage oder die ersten Sommernächte. 🙂
