Aus dem Hut gezaubert: Darjeeling im Interview zur neuen Platte

Darjeeling veröffentlicht am Freitag ihr zweites Album „Hokus Pokus“. Warum das Album so heißt, erfährst du jetzt im neuen Interview mit den Jungs.

Wer die Pickymag Insta-Stories aufmerksam verfolgt, der hat bestimmt mitbekommen, dass ich letzte Woche zur Pre-Listening Party von Darjeeling eingeladen wurde. Neben Alkohol, spannenden Gesprächen und viel Lob gab es außerdem noch die Testpressung der neuen Platte Hokus Pokus zu hören. Und die klang verdammt vielversprechend!

Zwischen dem ganzen Hände schütteln und Lobpreisen habe ich mir Till, Markus und Jan kurz zur Seite gezogen und ihnen ein paar Fragen zu ihrem neuen Album gestellt.

Das Thema eures neuen Albums ist ja sehr an Magie und Zauberei angelehnt. Woher kommt denn eure Idee mit Hokus Pokus?

Jan: Wir waren im Proberaum und haben uns neue Sachen überlegt. Bei der Vorproduktion ist dann das Orgelstück Hokus Pokus entstanden und danach stand eigentlich schon das Konzept fest. Aus unserer Sicht bietet es viel Potential. Tricks, Zwielicht oder eben auch Magie. Es ist kein strenges Konzept an sich, aber unbedingt die Überschrift für alle unsere neuen Stücke.

Bei eurem Bandnamen ist die erste Assoziation bei mir die Tee-Sorte gewesen. Ist das beabsichtigt, oder steckt etwas anderes dahinter?

Till: Darjeeling klang für uns einfach gut. Er ist Jan beim Tee trinken in den Sinn gekommen, warum kann man sich ja denken. Wir wollten nach zwei Umbenennungen einen Namen, der frisch klingt, den wir mit Inhalt füllen können, der einfach griffig ist. Eigentlich passt er jetzt sogar noch besser zur Musik, als zu seiner Entstehung.

Wer genau hinhört, merkt, dass nicht nur einer von euch singt, sondern dass ihr alle drei Gesangsparts auf dem neuen Album habt. Findet ihr, das macht euch das zu etwas Besonderem?

Markus: Aus musikhistorischer Perspektive sicherlich nicht. Wenn wir alle drei singen, dann haben wir einfach das Gefühl, das uns das mehr Freiheiten gibt. Wir wollten uns während des kreativen Prozesses nicht einschränken lassen und das ist eben das Ergebnis.

Wer sind eure Einflüsse während des Entstehungsprozesses von Hokus Pokus gewesen?

Till: Das interessante an der Sache ist, dass wir alle zur Zeit der Entstehung tatsächlich wenig Rockmusik gehört haben. Jan und Markus haben viel HipHop gehört und ich habe mich viel mit Soul und Sachen mit Groove auseinandergesetzt. Und natürlich unsere Favoriten: Helge Schnizzle und Frank Zapploinski.

Morgen kommt also euer neues Album raus und das ist bestimmt der Startschuss für richtig viel Action, oder? Was steht jetzt als nächstes bei euch an? 

Till: Ja, klar! Natürlich steht eine große Tour an, weitere Videodrehs, und noch ein paar andere Überraschungen. Wir haben auf jeden Fall mehr als genug Ideen zu Videos und weiteren Promo-Aktionen. Man darf also gespannt sein! 😉
