Am 10 Mai erscheint nämlich das zweite Album Rewire, was einige Erwartungen zu erfüllen hat.
Speaking in Tongues ist eine verträumt-romantische Indie-Rock-Nummer, die mit einer verspielten Einfachheit überzeugt. Die Drums sind ziemlich schmatzig und vielleicht etwas überengagiert gemischt worden. Insgesamt hat der Song aber doch ordentlich Power! Denn während der Verse eher ruhiger ist, geht es im Chorus richtig rund. Die Gesangsmelodie erinnert mich zeitweise an den einen oder anderen Coldplay-Song, was irgendwie eine Vertrautheit erzeugt.
Insgesamt hat Holden Laurence in meinen Augen die richtige Entscheidung getroffen und mit Speaking in Tongues ein Vorab-Statement gesetzt. Ob Rewire dieses Energie-Level halten kann, werden wir dann im Mai sehen! Hör mal rein:
