NIGHTMØDE klingen auf ihrer neuen Single Same Old Problems wie eine neo-soulige Mischung aus Chet Faker und dem Interstellar-Soundtrack. Kosmisch gut!
Bevor irgendwas anderes gesagt wird: Das Cover zu Same Old Problems ist einfach verdammt geil. Vom Artstyle erinnert es mich ein bisschen an die EP-Cover von L’Imperatrice, wobei ich dieses Kunststück sogar noch eine Ecke besser finde.
That being sad, widmen wir uns nun dem Klang dieser ziemlich speziell klingenden Neo-Soul-Nummer. Wie der Titel schon verrät, treffen hier Dinge aufeinander, die eigentlich sonst keine Berührungsbereiche haben. Partei eins klingt wie deftiger Neo-Soul à la Hablot Brown. Partei zwei erinnert mit den poppigen Synthies im Hintergrund etwas an Augustine und seinen Debüt-Banger Luzon.
Dann haben wir diese markante Gitarre, die dem Song das spacige Etwas verleiht. Mich persönlich hat dieses Thema, insbesondere das im Chorus ganz stark an den Soundtrack zu Interstellar von Hans Zimmer erinnert. Vielleicht etwas weit hergeholt, wie deine Bio-Avocados von Denn’s Bio-Abzocke-Markt, aber trotzdem ein guter Vergleich. Die letzte Partei ist dann die Gesangsabteilung, welche Ähnlichkeiten mit Easy Live oder Kohorten hat.
Was mir an Same Old Problems besonders gefallen hat, ist tatsächlich diese eklektische Vermischung so vieler Musik-Genres. Ich könnte sogar noch zwei oder drei weitere Künstler raushauen, die so ähnlich klingen. Doch schlussendlich soll es hier ja um NIGHTMØDE selbst gehen.
Knackige Drums, werden von poppigen Synthies und markanten Gitarrenmelodien ummantelt. Dazu gibt es einen notorisch-gelangweilten Gesang zu hören. Nicht mein persönlicher Favorit, in der Szene ist diese Art zu singen aber durchaus nicht unüblich, weshalb ich mal wohlwollend darüber hinweg sehe. Der Song hat einfach eine freakige Einzigartikeit, findest du nicht auch?
