White China veröffentlichen mit Blackout ihre neue Single und klingen dabei verstammt gut nach Balthazar! Klingt gut und macht Lust auf mehr!
Das Duo aus (keine Ahnung, ich schätze mal) USA bringt auf ihr neuen Single Blackout das Level an betont gelangweilt singen auf ein neues Level. Die Musik ist locker, unaufgeregt, der eigene Charakter ist jedoch unverkennbar. Musikalisch erinnern mich White China neben – obviously – Balthazar auch etwas an Gomina. Genau die richtige Indie-Schiene, in der ich mich wohlfühle. Die beiden Musiker haben 2018 ihr Debüt-Album veröffentlicht, Blackout ist jedoch ihr erster neuer Output in diesem Jahr!
Was ich an Blackout so spannend finde, ist die Gelassenheit, mit der der Song vorgetragen wird. Auch den gedoppelten Gesang am Anfang und gegen Ende des Songs finde ich klasse! Die Mischung aus organischen Instrumenten und Synthesizern ist hier sehr ausgewogen. Der Song klingt spannend und erzählt eine Geschichte. Dabei ist Blackout jedoch keinesfalls überladen oder probiert mehr zu sein, als es ist. Dazu gefällt mir die musikalische Ähnlichkeit mit den belgischen Motherfuckern von Balthazar.
Ich finde, man kann das schon als Kompliment nehmen, mit der Truppe verglichen zu werden. Im Endeffekt haben White China mit Blackout einfach eine ehrliche und kurze Nachricht aus dem Äther geschickt. Und das macht Spaß.
