Tiflis Transit ist das, was man unter Entrepreneuren ein Einhorn nennt. Nach dem ersten Mal hören der EP, musste ich kurz schlucken und verarbeiten, was ich da gehört habe. Die Genialität und Einzigartigkeit dieser Musik hat mich wirklich zum Staunen gebracht. Dass so großartige Musik aus Deutschland kommen kann, war mir bis dahin nicht bewusst gewesen. Umso mehr erstaunt mich der Fakt, dass Tiflis Transit noch ganz klein und unscheinbar im Internet auftreten.
Am 9. November ist ihre neue EP Mondaene Dysfunction erschienen und Picky Tim musste einfach eine Review zu diesem Meisterwerk verfassen. Die Debüt-Platte besteht aus vier Songs, von denen allerdings nur einer neu ist. White Wall, Island und Mosaic wurden dieses Jahr bereits als Single veröffentlicht. Nur der grandiose Opener May ist neu und nimmt einen sofort mit in die psychedelisch-funkige Welt, zu dessen Portal wohl nur Tiflis Transit einen Schlüssel besitzen.
May erinnert deutlich an Bands wie Palace oder Okta Logue. Gleichzeitig höre ich aber auch eine gemütliche Soulness heraus, die man sonst nur auf alten knisternden Flohmarkt-Platten von Sam Cooke oder Al Green finden würde. Super entspannte Drums, mächtige Klavierakkorde, obendrüber schwebt die mühelos gesungene Melodie von Till. Die Rakete verlässt endgültig den Orbit des Vorstellbaren, also die Trompete dazukommt.
Der Song steigert sich gegen Ende in ein grandioses Panorama. Von Links nach rechts hört man Vocals, Back-Ups, Drum und Trompeten-Fills. Dann ist der Song vorbei. Eigentlich kann ich jetzt schlafen gehen, besser wird es wohl nicht mehr.
White Wall klingt sehr ähnlich wie Transit von eben erwähnter Band Okta Logue. Selbe Instrumentierung, nur dass mir nicht langweilig wird. Der Gesang hat etwas von Chet Faker. Müsste ich jetzt die weiße Wand von Annenmaykantereit mit dieser Nummer hier vergleichen, würde ich fragen, wer Annenmaykantereit überhaupt sind. Hihi
Mosaic fängt an wie Prinz Pi Track aus dem Jahr 2013. Mein Herzschlag erhöht sich kurz, denn die Streak an nicen Songs könnte gleich vorbei sein. Doch dann fängt der Gesang an und ich lasse mich wieder in den Fluss des Universums fallen, um dort gemütlich zu ertrinken. Sehr schöne Rhythmus-Fraktion, eine perkussive Gitarre hier, organische Claps da. Dann ein Orgelsolo. Der Bass komplementiert die Gesangsmelodie auf spannende Art und Weise. Hier fühle ich tatsächlich etwas Alt-J. Das Gitarren-Lick bei 2:59 ist so himmlisch, dass Jimi Hendrix beim hören plötzlich Rechtshänder geworden ist.
Mondaene Dysfunction lässt mich einfach nur sprachlos zurück
Den Abschluss dieses Meisterwerkes macht das etwas wildere Island. Tame Impala lässt grüßen. Die Drums und die Shaker klingen ziemlich funky und lassen meinen Kopf mitnicken. Vor meinem geistigen Auge springt James Brown durchs Bild. Like A, Like A, You Know…?
Die Platte war so geil, ich könnte den ganzen Tag weiter mit Komplimenten um mich schmeißen. Der Instrumental-Part der dann bei 2:00 beginnt, erinnert mich tatsächlich an die Red Hot Chili Peppers und damit haben mich Tiflis Transit zu 110% auf seiner Seite. Dass ich so eine Ähnlichkeit auf dieser EP finden würde, hätte ich beim starten niemals gedacht. Mondaene Dysfunction lässt mich einfach nur sprachlos zurück.
Tiflis Transit ist irgendwie ein waberndes Kontinuum aus Soul, Jazz, Psychedelic, Funk und einem Infinity-Stone, den sie Thanos geklaut haben. Hochkomplexe und mit Herzblut geschriebene Musik, die beim hören trotzdem nicht überfordert und Atmosphäre erzeugt. So was habe ich wirklich noch nie gehört. Vergleichbar mit Namen wie Tame Impala, Red Hot Chili Peppers, und Unknown Mortal Orchestra kann ich eigentlich wirklich nichts mehr sagen, sondern nur noch auf den Spotify-Auftritt verweisen:
- Am besten hören beim: Durchs Universum schweben, mit dem langhaarigen Plattenladenbesitzer über potenzielle Einflüsse streiten
- Favourite Song: Alle
- Least Favourite Song: Nö
